Looking for an easy Thanksgiving appetizer/side dish? Well our friends Katie and Andrew have got you covered!!! These mozzarella stuffed pretzel balls are easy to make and irresistibly delicious 😋 All you need is pizza dough, mozzarella, salt, and butter!

Serves: 6

Prep time: 5 minutes.

Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Trader Joe's Plain Pizza Dough

  • 8 oz Whole Milk Fresh Mozzarella

  • 4 cups water

  • 1/4 cup baking soda

  • 1 egg

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp butter

Process

  1. Slice mozzarella balls in half.

  2. Roll a small amount of dough around each mozzarella slice. Put each ball on a piece of parchment paper or plate off to the side.

  3. Boil 4 cups of water and add 1/4 cup of baking soda in a deep pot. Stir. Add pretzel balls and let them cook for 45 seconds (they should float) and then quickly remove them with a slotted spoon. Place on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper.

  4. Preheat the oven to 425ºF

  5. After you're done boiling all the pretzel balls, coat them with an egg wash. (To make the egg wash, just beat an egg and add 1 tablespoon of water)

  6. Sprinkle salt on top

  7. Bake at 425º for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden.

  8. Place in a large ziplock bag WHILE STILL WARM. Add 1 tbsp butter and a generous amount of salt. Zip the bag shut and shake so that the butter will spread and melt around the pretzel balls.
